Potworms in Orchidaceae
All Phalaenopsis growers know the problem; Lyprauta or Potworms. This mosquito causes a lot of damage in the cultivation of pot orchids and a lot of people have already racked their brains about the problem.
By thinking outside the box, we have managed to develop a control system for this which yields great results. Using soil predatory mites in an innovative way has allowed us to influence the problem very favourably and noticeably decrease the damage. Tests so far show a 50 % reduction compared to current control systems and, if properly addressed, a higher result is certainly possible.
In order to achieve this success, it is important that the situation in the crop is properly monitored at least every two weeks in order to be able to anticipate this. This does not always have to be done by external parties – it is also possible to train the staff to do it themselves in the long run and thus have everything in their own hands.
We can help you achieve this success. Together with you, we draw up a control plan based on efficiency and cost reduction. From experience we know that a lot of money is often spent on this problem without too much result. Improving the system can greatly improve efficiency and reduce costs.
